During my first year as an illustration student, at the University of Stellenbosch, we taught the art of book binding. The precision and attention to detail required is on a level of its own, if your measurements are off with even half a millimeter your book might be horribly skew. This old art of binding books is very therapeutic. With every pull of the needle you can see your book coming together. Then the hard part come in, sitting and waiting for the glue to dry. This becomes almost unbearable and just as you feel that you cannot wait one second longer your book is dry and is ready to be trimmed and covered. The end product, a perfectly bound smooth and slik book, that took hours to make, but every second of it was worth it!
